Obituary of Walter Warren Thompson

Walter Warren Thompson, age 93, of Clarksville passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Clarksville Nursing Center. Mr. Thompson was born October 27, 1919, in Clarksville to Walter Arnest and Ruth Jane McWaters Thompson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Rice Lambert Thompson. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. Walter was a decorated war veteran of World War II. He served his country in the Southern Philippines Liberation Campaign. His decorations and citations included an Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Army Occupation Ribbon (Japan), Victory Ribbon and 2 Overseas Service Bars. Walter was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Cuthand Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
