Obituary of Zelma Stringer Askins
Zelma Stringer Askins, age 100, of Clarksville, passed away, Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Regency Nursing Center. Mrs. Askins was born October 28, 1913, in the Dimple Community of Red River County to Frank and Dora Cagle Stringer, Sr. She married Moody Askins on October 29, 1933, and he preceded her in death on January 2, 2002. For a lady that did not have any children of her own, she had more “kids” than most. She was known as “Auntie” to all that new her. Mrs. Askins was a member of the Pine Grove Presbyterian Church. She lived for her church and loved spending time at the Red River County Fair and the Stew Cook-Off.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2013, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Jack Holt officiating. Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour before service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Bubba Stringer, Justin Stringer, Dillon Stringer, Steven Stringer, Kevin Taylor, Michael Earley, Dokata Earley and Loran Duckett.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, their families and friends that loved her very much.
