James Elton Nicks October 1, 1925 - April 28, 2018 James Elton Nicks, age 92, of Garland, Texas, was born October 1, 1925 in Avery, Texas, to George and Mary Eliza Bearden Nicks, and passed away April 28, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Wima Nicks

James is survived by his loving wife, Frieda Wood Nicks; daughter, Cynthia Nicks of Houston; granddaughters, Frances Grice of Houston, Rachel Grice of West Virginia; great grandsons, Eli Grice of West Virginia, and Jeramia Grice of West Virginia; great granddaughters, Elizabeth Grice of West Virginia, his step-children; Suzanne Westerheim of Dallas, Glen & Denise Raggio of Mesquite; Step-grandchildren, Luke & Elya Westerheim of Rowlett, Elissa Westerheim of Dallas, Christina Raggio of Austin, Kevin Raggio of Austin; Step-great-grandchildren, Olivia & Abigail Westerheim of Rowlett; as well as many nieces and nephews in Avery and East Texas. James is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary, as well as eight siblings;brothers, Jennings Nicks, Frank Nicks, T. G. Nick's, and an infant brother; sisters, Fannie Tucker, Hazel Peek, Donia McGregor, and Effie Kelsoe.

Funeral services will be held in Mr. Nicks honor at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 in Williams Memorial Chapel, with an Interment, Saturday, May 5th, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at the Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home
