Obituary of Winfred Leon Beers

Winfred Leon “Wimpy” Beers, age 91, of the Lone Star Community, passed away, Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Brentwood Terrace Health Care Center in Paris.  Mr. Beers was born, December 2, 1926, in Annona to Lewis Francis and Luna Fay Cahill Beers.  His first wife, Dorothy Gene Beers, second wife, Odessa Beers; grandson, Garrett Beers; three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.  Wimpy was a long time member of the Lone Star Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.  He was a retired fireman for Dow Chemical in Freeport.  Wimpy was the jokester of the family and a great caregiver and father figure to his three boys.  He loved his Lone Star Methodist Church family and community. 

 

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shovan and Rev. Dink Benton officiating.  Burial will follow in Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

 

The family will receive friends an hour before service time at Clarksville Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers are Shane Beers, Brent Beers, Casey Johnson, Dean Armburst, Steve Towler and Dewayne Jenkins.

 

Honorary Pallbearers are the men of the Lone Star Methodist Church.

 

Survivors include three sons, Danny Beers and wife, Susan of McKinney, Jerry Beers and wife, Pam of Forney and Mark Beers and wife, Karen of the Lone Star Community; grandchildren, Stephanie Vonderchek and husband, Rick, Shane Beers and wife, Jennifer, Brent Beers and wife, Mollie, Ashley Johnson and husband, Casey and Lauren Armburst and husband, Dean; and thirteen great grandchildren.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lone Star Methodist Church, C/O Marline Thomas, 4146 CR 1245, Clarksville, Texas 75426.
