Obituary of Jonell Skidmore

Jonell Skidmore, age 97, of Clarksville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Thursday, July 26, 2018.  Jonell grew up in Bogata the daughter of Joe and Vera Veteto Ragsdill.  She married George Monroe “Skid” Skidmore on December 24, 1937.  They were married for 56 years before his death in 1994.  Jonell was a partner in Clarksville Florist from 1960 until her retirement.  She was known for her sweet and kind spirit.  Jonell was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who placed her priorities on her family.  She was very active in the First Baptist Church.  Jonell was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Ronald Gene Skidmore; and a brother, William Mac Ragsdill.

Survivors include her daughter Donna Jo Sloan and husband, Richard D. Sloan of Hot Springs, Village, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Joycelyn Skidmore of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Darla Deter and husband, Sam, Bradley Lane Duncan and wife, Tammy; Ronald Gene “Pete” Skidmore, Jr. and wife, Kelly; nine great grandchildren; and her brother, Norris Lee Ragsdill; one niece and two nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until service time  at Clarksville Funeral Home

Funeral services are set for 12:00 p.m., Saturday, July 28, 2018, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Gossett officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Bobby Gooding, Jerry Steward, Don Eudy, Johnny Ragsdill and Bruce Duncan.

Honorary Pallbearers are L.C. Neal, Charles Wilson, Ben Black and Don Lawler.
