Obituary of Larry W. Smith

Larry Smith passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2018 in Carrollton, at the age of 65.

Larry is survived by his siblings, Jeanette McMullin of Athens, Georgia, Ron Smith of Wickenburg, Arizona, Charles Smith of Magnolia, Bob Smith of Detroit and  David Smith of Dallas. 

Larry was born on February 16, 1953, in Fort Worth to James Hursul and Oma Ruth Smith. He graduated from Diamond Hill-Jarvis High School in 1971.  After high school Larry worked for Tarrant County College District in the maintenance department at the Aviation Extension facility at Meacham Field in Fort Worth. Larry retired from Tarrant County College District in 2003 and moved to Detroit, to be near his family.

Larry will be remembered for being a kind-hearted person who would always remember to call his siblings on their birthdays, could be counted on to pitch-in to help when asked, and loved to watch and follow the Dallas Cowboys.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 14, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Woodland Cemetery in in Red River County. Bob Smith, his brother, will officiate.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Larry’s life.  Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
