Obituary of Dorothy Sessums

Dorothy Joyce “Nanny” Sessums, age 91, of Avery, passed away, Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at her residence.

Dorothy was born April 26, 1928, in Avery to Lawrence and Josie Whitten Wall.  Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Levi “Sonny” Sessums; her brothers, Lester Wall and Lloyd Wall; sister, Earlee Wall Butler, her son, William L. Larry Sessums; her daughter, Josie “Dodie” Browning and her grandson, Christopher Browning.

There will be no formal visitation.

Serving as pallbearers are: Jeff Day, Renee Cook, Channing Howland, Ty Adams, Jerry Simpson and Lloyd Bradshaw.

Graveside services are set for 10:00a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2019 in Avery Cemetery with Rev. Roddy Jackson officiating.  Burial is under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Sessums Butler of Avery and Debra Kay Sessums Harper of Paris; her son-in-law, Jerry Simpson of Clarksville; 8 grandchildren, Jeff Day of Avery, Renee Cook of Avery, Leandra Thomas of Paris, Kim McCatherine & husband Mike of Texarkana, Arkansas, Wendy Browning of Ector, Timothy Browning of Ector, LaTessa Bridgers and husband, James of Paris and Justin Browning and wife Lisa of Clarksville; 21 great grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
