Obituary of Murriel Minter Bonds
Murriel Minter Bonds, age 93, of Boxelder, passed away, Sunday, January 09, 2011, at Leonard Manor Nursing Center.
Mrs. Bonds was born in the Shawnee Prairie Community near Boxelder on August 20, 1917, to Dee Dolphus and Viola Minter. Murriel worked for the Red River Army Depot for over thirty years before her retirement. That is when her time became available and her passion for dolls erupted into a full time adventure. She crocheted afghans, made beer can hats and sold jewelry in order to build her collection. Nurturing her family and her dolls was her love in life. In 2004 she moved to Leonard and founded Mama Murriel’s Doll Museum, which created a permanent home for her collection where people from around the world and next door could come and experience her passion for collecting. Her family and collection gave her company in her later years and she enjoyed both until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James A. Bonds; a son, Roger W. Bonds and two brothers, Amos and Dewey Minter.
Survivors include a daughter in law, Lenora Moore and husband James; a grandson, Jack Bonds and wife Teresa; a granddaughter, Pamela Hyde and husband Brent of Boxelder; her great granddaughters, Amber Bates and husband Kevin and Amanda Moore and husband Jason; her great grandsons, Christopher Hyde and Riley Bonds.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2011, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Karl Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Boxelder Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
