Obituary of Virgil Ray Taylor

Virgil Ray Taylor, AKA, Paw Paw, Santa Clause, Fat Cat and Old Man, went to ride with the angels in Heaven. He passed away at his home in Manchester on Sunday, January 10, 2010. Virgil was born June 9, 1938, in Mansfield to Earl and Linnie Taylor. Virgil married Wilma Louise Russell on September 8, 1962. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1957 until April 1963 and was honorably discharged. He retired from Chaparral Steel in Mansfield and was employed by Waggoner Ranch, Ltd. He was a member of the Kiamichi Independent Bikers Club from Oklahoma. Virgil was a friend to all who knew him. When he wasn’t working, you could find him under his carport with his favorite beverage enjoying conversation with neighbors and friends that continually stopped by every day. He lived by Alan Jackson’s song, “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere”. He leaves an ongoing legend to the Manchester community. Virgil was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one “same as son”, Justin Good. He leaves behind four sons, Kenneth Davis and wife Nita, Ronald Taylor and wife Kimberly, Donald Taylor and wife Kimberly and Kevin Waggoner and wife Leslie; 17 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Doyle Taylor and Buddy Taylor; one sister, Betty Lou Raines; one “same as daughter, Candace Gills; and one “same as son” Antonio Mendoza. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Ellis officiating. Graveside services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Mansfield Cemetery in Mansfield, Texas, under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Virgil will be honored with a Patriot Guard and Kiamichi Independent Bike Club escort out of town. Pallbearers are Antonio Mendoza, Gerrald Seeton, Rusty Martin, Royce Rhoades, Porter Griggs, Bubba Stringer, Mickey Minter and Kenneth Warner. Honorary Pallbearers are Dawson Waggoner, Whoochie Elrod, Gary Lane, Tommy Pryor and Mike Golightly.
