Obituary of Aleene L. Gillis

Aleene Lavada Epps Gillis, age 94, of Clarksville, died Monday, January 24, 2011, at Clarksville Nursing Center. Mrs. Gillis was born in February 6, 1916, in Bowie County to William Alex and Ollie Myrtle Blankenship Epps. She was a member of the College Avenue Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Steve Gillis, three brothers, Woodrow, Lee Grant and Troy Epps and a sister Hazel Schluter. Survivors include a sister in law, Christine Epps of Hooks; Nephews, Roy and Alan Epps of Hooks, Harold Epps of Mt. Vernon, Charles Epps of Bogata and Randy Epps of Texarkana; and one niece, Diann Yarberry of Texarkana. Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Smith Cemetery in Rosalie with Rev. James Brown officiating. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
