Obituary of Virginia Bates

Virginia Nell “Peggy” Bates, age 85, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, March 09, 2011, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Bates was born November 14, 1925, in the English Community of Red River County to Rufus Lee and Lillie Waters Gray. She retired from the Red River Army Depot and was of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Bates. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Allen and husband Bobby of Liberty Hill and Peggy Railing of Mt. Vernon; her grandchildren, Brian Ramirez, Nikki English and Gene Boss; her step grandson, Trey Allen; a brother, Rev. Raymond Gray of Texarkana, Texas; and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home. Burial will follow in English Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour before the service time at the funeral home.
