Obituary of Birl Abilene Grimes

Birl Grimes, age 88, of Texarkana, formally of Red River County, passed away, Thursday, March 24, 2011, at St. Michaels Rehab Center in Texarkana, Texas. Mr. Grimes was born September 15, 1922 in Red River County to Charlie and Maggie Williams Grimes. He was a retired Engineer and served in the Air Force during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Nelta June Allen Grimes of Texarkana; one son, Tommy Grimes of Mansfield; a daughter, Sandra Shepherd of Paris; a sister, Lona Mae Townes of Texarkana; one brother, Charlie Grimes of Texarkana; three grandchildren, Dean Brown, Shane Brown and wife Nikki and Andre Grimes; three great grandchildren, Brittany, Bradley, Balee and Bethlin Brown; and two great-great grandchildren, Rylie and Payton Brown. Graveside services are 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. James Brown officiating under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
