Obituary of Sally B. Horsley
Sallie B. Horsley, age 89, formerly of Clarksville, went home to be with the Lord on April 1, 2011, in Burleson, Texas.
Mrs. Horsley was born and raised in Clarksville and was graduated from Clarksville High School. She worked for J. C. Penny until she married James N. Horsley and became a housewife and traveled the United States. They settled back in the Hopewell community near Clarksville, Texas. She has been a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church since she was a child. She wrote and sang country and gospel music and was invited to sing at the Grand Ole Opera.
Mrs. Horsley was preceded in death by one son, Carol Mac Smith,
Mrs. Horsley was the back bone of the family. She assisted her son, Carol Mac Smith, in raising his four children. There are not words to express her grandchildren’s appreciation, gratitude, and love for her.
Mrs. Horsley is survived by sons, Ben Horsley of Ft. Worth, Jimmy Don Horsley of Clarksville and Michael Horsley of Tucson, Arizona; a sister, Betty Smith of Mesquite; two brothers, Melton W. Smith of Arkansas and James D. Smith of Deport; grandchildren, Cheryl Smith of Burleson, Vanessa Davis of Ft. Worth, Paul D. Smith of Dangerfield, Dale Smith of Meeker, Colorado, Nathan Horsley of Tennessee and Keileigh Horsley of Ft. Worth; great grandchildren, Rea Lea, Jessica, Melissa, Niki, Paul, Stephen, Mallory, Hillary, James and Zoe and eleven great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services are set for Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at 11 a..m. at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Kellam and Rev. James Brown officiating. Interment will be in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
