Obituary of Mary Etta Shelton

Mary Etta McGuire Shelton, age 83, of Clarksville, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011, at Regency Healthcare Center. Mrs. Shelton was born October 22, 1927, in Clarksville to Leo and Cora Mae Rains McGuire. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles V. Shelton; and a brother, Martin McGuire. She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1944 and attended the First Presbyterian Church. Mary worked for various places around Clarksville including Blackmons Pharmacy and True Value Hardware. She was a Soda Jerk and Sales Clerk. She enjoyed playing bridge and 42 with her friends and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at New Shamrock Cemetery with Rev. Ed Dodson officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Mac Varley, Jay Smith, Bill Rains, Rev. Sam Rice, Wendell Davis, Olen Douglas. Survivors include her son, Philip C. Shelton and wife Linda of Longview; her daughter, Cindy Shoemaker of Carthage; one granddaughter, Jenna B. Shoemaker of Ft. Worth; one grandson, Gregory P. Shelton and partner Rob Beard of Ft. Worth.
