Obituary of Joyce Laverne Harp

Joyce Laverne Smith Harp, age 63, of Bagwell, died August 7, 2011, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler. Joyce was born September 18, 1947, in Paris to Fred and Elva Lee Barnett Smith. She married the love of her life, Richard Harp on October 3, 1968. He preceded her in death on November 7, 1998. She was employed 30 years at Red Kap Industries in Clarksville, where she was a supervisor. She also worked 11 years at Blossom Food Mart and maintained a successful cake decorating business. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; five brothers, Jackie, Cecil, Kenneth, Larry and L.C. Smith; and one sister, Karon Sotelo. Survivors include a son, Scott Harp and wife Cara of Bagwell; a daughter, Carla June Harp of Bagwell; three grandchildren, Delana Harp, Colton Harp and Rieley Burks; two sisters, Eva Loise Nowlin and husband Max of Waco and Virginia Farris and husband Robert of Deport; four brothers, Leon Smith and wife Mary of Detroit, Odell Smith of Lone Oak, Dennis Smith and wife Florence of Paris and Ronnie Smith of Paris; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Kellam officiating. Burial will follow in Blanton Creek Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Serving as Pallbearers are Ronnie Bridges, James Sprools, Charles Murphy, Michael Murphy, Chad Johnston and Bill Barton.
