Obituary of John Robert Martin

John Robert Martin, age 74, of Avery, passed away Tuesday, February 07, 2012, at Clarksville Nursing Center. John was born in Clarksville on May 1, 1937, to Lewis and Opal Barnett Martin. He was a Master Carpenter and a member of the Avery Church of Christ. He also served in the National Guard. He married Barbara Webb on October 12, 1956, in Avery at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Webb. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2012, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with David Ingram and Rev. James Anderson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Justin Storey, Randy Martin, Norvey Martin, Shane Roberts, Chris Holt and Brandon Butler. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobey Acree, Ryan Cox, Tracy Stevens, Chris Toon, Aaron Smith, Brian Smith, Trace Stevens, Christerpher Toon and Hunter Stevens. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; a son, Robert Wesley Martin and wife, Rhonda of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Vickie Acree and husband, Rickey of Clarksville; two brothers, Jerry Martin of Paris and Ellis Martin of Clarksville; his grandchildren, Jamie Storey, Bobey Acree, Krystal Smith, Rami Stevens, Robin Toon and Ryan Cox; and nine great grandchildren.
