Obituary of Lonnie James Smith

Lonnie James Smith, age 67, of Rotan, died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at his residence. Lonnie was born September 15, 1944, in English, to James Robert and Lottie Maybelle Crawford Smith. Lonnie lived most of his life in Bagwell. He married his high school sweetheart, Eva (Smith) on May 28, 1964, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They were married almost forty-eight years. Lonnie was a logger and also built boat trailers. He moved to Rotan in 2004. Lonnie liked to work in his shop, fishing and “thrift” shopping. He was a member of the Bible Church in Carlsbad. He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Patsy Ann Luper; and a nephew, Travis Ray Luper. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 14, 2012 at the Bagwell Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at the church. Survivors include his wife, Eva of Rotan; his mother, Lottie Smith of Bagwell; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Valeska Smith of Rotan, James and Amy Smith of Simms, Jody and Vicki Smith of Rotan and Jessie and Angie Smith of Bagwell; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Bob Cabler of Clarksville and Stephanie and J.D. Huston of Rotan; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Wynna and Robert Moore; 19 grandchildren, Shane Cabler, Chrisal Reese, Ashley Johnson, Cathy Hock, James Smith, Kara Smith, Taneesha Smith, Kortney Smith, Staci Smith, Dakota Smith, Jaycee Smith, Chad Houston, K.C. Houston, Devon Bailey, Makenna Weems, Dakota Pickens, Dylan Pickens, Dalton Pickens and Danielle Pickens; and 4 great grandchildren.
