Obituary of Evelyn Smith

Evelyn “Nanny” Smith, age 85, of Detroit, passed away, Thursday, November 29, 2012, at her residence. Mrs. Smith was born January 20, 1927 to William Thomas and Willie Helms of Bagwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Smith; her son Jerry Von Smith and her grandson Robert Shawn Smith. Evelyn was blessed with one daughter, Janice Chesshire and husband Tommy; one son, Jimmy Wayne Smith and wife Peggy; six grandchildren, Sammy Chesshire of Paris, Eddie Chesshire and wife Dea of Detroit, Brandie Owen and husband Jimmy of Blossom, T.J. and wife Danielle of Paris, Tina Cadotte of Detroit and Jeffery and wife Christie of Bogata; nine great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many loving friends to numerous to count; and a daughter in law, Josie Smith. Evelyn was a very special lady that had enough love for everyone and was loved by everyone. She never turned anyone away if they were cold or hungry. “You will be missed by all and you are so very special to us. She was called “Nanny” by everyone. She was so special that the angels came and took her in her sleep. We love you.” Graveside services are set for 11:30 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012, at the Bluff Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8, Friday night at Clarksville Funeral Home.
