Obituary of Leon Cox

Leon Cox, age 90, formerly of Avery, passed away, Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Mission Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon. Mr. Cox was born in the Avery Community May 16, 1919 to Henry and Zola Cox. He loved farming and ranching. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was of the Assembly of God faith. His son, Jimmy Leon Cox preceded him in death. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Olin Pumphrey officiating. Entombment will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are James Burrow, Keith Burrow, Kyle Burrow, Robby Collvins, Doyle Duncan, Jim Irwin, Stanley Hawkins and Neil Ritchey. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Collvins Cox; a grandson, Jeff Cox and wife Holly of Paris; and a great grandson, Jayden Lee Cox.
