Obituary of John M Donovan

John M. Donovan, age 81, of Clarksville, passed away, Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Mr. Donovan was born July 15, 1932, in Red River County to John “Dick” and Ethel Clark Donovan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Clarksville. He married Betty Shiflet in 1954. He worked and was part owner of the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Clarksville, afterwards he and his family started a custom shredding business and raised Registered Brangus Cattle on their ranch south of Clarksville. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday morning at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Tony Stoeptel officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Rosary will be held Friday night at 5:45 and visitation will follow at 6:00 until 7:30, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Marion Lowe, Teddy Jones, Johnny Drew, Jon McCoy, Danny Henderson and Paul Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. James.F. Kelty, John Finley, Bill Asbury and Tony Potts. Survivors include his wife, Betty Donovan of Clarksville; 1 son, Richard Donovan of Clarksville; 1 daughter, Susan Stubblefield and husband Jack of Lewisville; 1 sister, Dorothy Jo Bolton of Clarksville; 2 grandchildren, Keely Perry of Deport and Matt Stubblefield of Rockwall; and 2 great-grandchildren, Brody Stubblefield and Cody Drew.
