Obituary of Barbara Jane Cowan

Janie Cowan, age 77, of Detroit, passed away, Saturday, September 07, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Cowan was born August 28, 1936, in Goldthwaite, Texas, to Travis and Willie Featherston Long. She was a loving wife, mother, belonged to the Midway WHD Club and a member of the Church of Christ in Detroit. She married Seneca “Coop” Cowan on May 26, 1956, in Goldthwaite, Texas. She was preceded in death by her twin children; and a sister. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 8, 2013, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Reggie Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Manchester Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. There will be no formal visitation. Serving as Pallbearers are Tracy Williams, Corey Gray, Bill Robinett, Clay Allison, Richard Yarbrough and Todd Williams. Honorary Pallbearers are Benny Cogburn, Harold Blackburn, Pete Pearce, Cub Maynard and Tony Whittle. Survivors include her husband, Seneca “Coop” Cowan of Detroit; 2 sons, Mark Cowan and wife Rebecca of Detroit and Jim Cowan of Sterling, Virginia; 1 daughter, Mary Kay Cowan of Plano; and 3 grandchildren, Alexis, Tanessa and Jessica Cowan.
