Obituary of Betty Lou Smith

Betty Lou Smith, age 77, of Detroit, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Smith was born June 30, 1936, in the Fulbright Community of Red River County to Homer Travis and Margaret Jewett Cavender. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Smith; a son, Jackie Smith; her father, Homer Cavender; and two brothers-in-law, Delbert and Paul Smith. Funeral services are 2:00p.m., Friday, November 29, 2013, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Jeff Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour before service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Bradly Smith, Allen Smith, Jackie Bryant, Brent Beers, Kenny Snodgrass, Michael Smith, David Blanton and Bobby Phifer. Honorary Pallbearers are Roy Lee Smith, Johnny McCoin, Dale Miller, Travis Bronner, Bobby Smith and Cub Maynard. Survivors include two sons, Ronnie Smith of Detroit and James Smith of Pittsburg; her mother, Margaret Cavender of Detroit; three brothers, Walter Cavender and wife Imogene of Paris, Rickey Cavender and wife Arnita of Lovelady and Travis Cavender of Asterdam, Arkansas; four sisters, Jane Weems and husband Curtis of Negley, Nancy Smith of Detroit, Shirley Croft and husband Wayne of Wills Point and Fay Summers of Gainesville; four sisters-in-law, Jane Swift, Anna Clement, Juanita Westmoreland and Shirley Smith; five grandchildren, Bradley Smith, Allen Smith, Stephanie Smith Bryant, Jeannie Smith and Mollie Jean Beers, nine great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Joan Smith and a host of nephews and nephews.
