Obituary of Doris Onita Smith Pearce

Mrs. Doris Pearce Doris Onita Smith Pearce, age 95, of Detroit, passed away, Monday, May 3, 2010, at Regency Healthcare Center. Mrs. Pearce was born April 17, 1915, in Pecan Gap, Texas to Thomas G. and Eula Bostick Smith. She married Dennis Austin Pearce in April of 1932. She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church in Detroit, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Patricia Lee; her parents, two brothers and one sister. Survivors include her sons; James Earl (Pete) Pearce and wife Ann of Clarksville and Melvin Ray (Tooter) Pearce and wife Dorothy of Weatherford, Texas; grandchildren, Jaymee Holder and husband Terry of Wichita Falls, Texas, Shanta Pearce of Dallas, Texas, Kim Fincher and husband Tommy of Weatherford, Texas and Misti Adams and husband Matt of Weatherford, Texas; great grandchildren, Austin Cooper, Will Cooper, Autumn Fincher, Hunter Fincher, Reid Adams and Cade Adams; a brother, Paul Gene Smith of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a sister, Tommie Jo Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Oma Ruth Smith of Detroit, Texas; many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends whom she loved dearly. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Calvin Perminter and Bill Whiteman officiating. Burial will follow in Detroit Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Tommy Fincher, Hunter Fincher, Matt Adams, Will Cooper, Austin Cooper and Terry Holder. Honorary Pallbearers are Delma Gibbs, Robert Lee Morris, John Arthur Castleman, J.L. Furrer, Seneca Cowan, Jr., Dale Miller, Billy Edwards, Glen Commons, H.V. Parker, Jr., Donald Mills and Arnold Wayne Doudney. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Midway Community Center in care of Venita Jo Morris, 3866 FM 3281, Detroit, Texas 75436.
