Obituary of Ruby Nell Stratton

Ruby Nell Stratton, age 66, of Clarksville, passed away, Friday, March 14, 2014, at her residence. Nell was born August 10, 1947, in Sulphur Springs to Joe Bailey and Audie Inez Purser Ward. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sharon Zarita Ward; her brothers, John Nelson Ward, Larry Kenneth Ward and Paul Douglas Ward; a brother-in-law, Fred Shockome. Nell was very active and a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarksville. She served as secretary for twenty eight and a half years and was the WMU Director. Nell taught the Ruth Sunday School Class from 2011- 2013 and worked with the youth and children departments. She also worked with the church library staff and was active in the church choir and handbells. She married Larry Stratton on April 20, 1985. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2014, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Gossett officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 5 to 7 at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Robby Ward, Sr., Stacy Roark, Donald Ward, Bobby Ward, Lonnie Roark and Anthony Ward. Survivors include her husband, Larry D. Stratton of Clarksville; one son, Brian Larzelere and wife, Margie of Avery; two daughters, Robyn Lee and husband, Johnny of Bogata and Holly Hines and husband, Scotty of Clarksville; four sisters, Inez Shockome of Vidor, Ann Guthrie and husband, Bill of Genoa, Arkansas, Naoma Roark and husband, David of Clarksville and Karen Rowzee of Clarksville; 3 brothers, Bobby Ward of Avery, Robby Ward of Hooks and Donald Ward of Clarksville; grandchildren, Justin and Colter Franks, Kelsey Lee, Briana and Brenden Bridges, Braden Larzelere, Lindsay and Eddy Hines; great grandchildren, Garrett and Gunner Franks, Blake Barfield and Tatum Franks; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends. Memorials may be made in Nell’s name to the First Baptist Church, 1501 U.S. Hwy. 82 W., Clarksville, Texas 75426 or the Paris Pregnancy Care Center, 500 E. Houston St., Paris, Texas 75460.
