Obituary of Dorothy Louise Tackett

Dorothy Louise Tackett, age 86 of Clarksville, passed away, April 2, 2014, at East Texas Medical Center Clarksville. Mrs. Tackett was born May 18, 1927, in the Johntown Community of Red River County to Luther and Lora Mayes Kelsoe. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Tackett on July 16, 2006; her infant daughter, Ginger Dale Tackett; and her brother, Clifford Kelsoe. Dorothy loved her family and never met a stranger. She loved camping with her husband and they often volunteered at the local nursing homes. She attended the New Shamrock Presbyterian Church and will be missed by all. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shovan and Tommy Horn officiating. Burial will follow in New Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour before service time at the funeral home. Survivors include three sons, Larry Tackett and wife Jan of Ore City, Dennis Tackett and wife, Cindy of Mt. Pleasant and Michael Lee Tackett and friend, Melissa Horsy of Clarksville; one daughter, Rose Stringer and husband, Larry of Clarksville, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons.
