Obituary of Grace V. Hays

Grace V. Hays, age 102, of Clarksville, passed away, Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Clarksville Nursing Center. Mrs. Hays was employed by the Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant and later was a New Born Caregiver in the Dallas Area. She was born April 12, 1912, in Detroit to Hallie and Callie Dowdy Shelton. Mrs. Hays was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Foster Hays; her son, William Lloyd Hays; her daughter, Nina Frances Harnest; her grandson, James Colby Ward; her brothers and sisters. Graveside services are 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at Lanes Chapel Cemetery with Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Survivors include a son, Donald Hays of Clarksville; her daughters, Barbara Ward of Clarksville, Joyce Williams of McKinney and Jane Mathews of Dallas; and 5 grandchildren.
