Obituary of Sam Alsup

Sam Alsup, age 66, of Cuthand, passed away Thursday, November 06, 2014, at Paris Regional Medical Center. He was born, October 31, 1948, in Clarksville to Clarence and Bonnie Smith Alsup. Sam enjoyed all aspects of the Ranching Lifestyle, especially roping. During his roping career he won several events. He loved being with his family and friends. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Cuthand United Methodist Church. Sam was preceded in death by 9 siblings. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 9, 2014, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with John Purviance and Tracy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Cuthand Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are, Johnny Hudson, Jim Ballantine, Mike Gustin, Jeffery Bivins, Matt Simmons and Ike Roach. Survivors include 2 sons, Lee Alsup and wife, Selena of Mt. Pleasant and Joe Alsup and wife, Talisha of Avery; 1 sister, Elizabeth “Sis” Eans of Duncanville; 2 brothers, Jimmy “Cowboy” Alsup and wife Doris of Cuthand and Bob Alsup and wife, Linda of Eastpoint, Louisiana; grandchildren, Cody Alsup and fiancé, Tess, Kane and Kass Alsup and Corie, Lakin and Kentley Mankins; and a special friend, Connie Alsup.
