Obituary of James Darwin Floyd

James Darwin Floyd, age 93, of the Boxelder Community, passed away Sunday, February 08, 2015, at Clarksville Nursing Center. Darwin was born March 26, 1921, in the Boxelder Community to John and Florence Stout Floyd. Mr. Floyd served in the U.S. Army and was Staff Sargent in the 2nd Infantry Division and served under General George Patton. He fought at Normandy Beach and in The Battle of The Bulge. Darwin received The Bronze Star Medal, American Defense Service Metal, Campaign Metal with Bronze Stars and The Good Conduct Medal. After the war ended he returned to Boxelder where he married Earldene Fogleman. They celebrated their 69th anniversary on January 26, 2015. They raised their 3 children Jan, James Dean, Joan in the Boxelder community. He was a Deacon and faithful member of The Salem Baptist Church for over 50 years. Darwin was happiest when he was in Boxelder. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at the Salem Baptist Church with Rev. James Brown and Rev. Mike Redus officiating. Burial will follow in Boxelder Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Jay Kay, Lance Cornell, Dean Floyd, Zach Cornell, Matthew Stanley, Austin Gaddis, Colby Cornell, Eric Floyd and Cooper Kay. Honorary Pallbearers are George Harvey, Melvin Brown, Jeff Augustus, Glen Floyd, Charles Monroe and Herbert Harmon. Survivors include his wife, Earldene Fogleman Floyd of Boxelder; 1 son, James Dean Floyd and wife, Sharon of Boxelder; 2 daughters, Jan Cornell and husband, Larry of Boxelder and Joan Floyd Kay of College Station; grandchildren, Jana Kay Green, Salena Floyd Gaddis, Sherry Floyd Montgomery, Jay Kay, Lance Cornell, Dean Floyd and Zach Cornell; great-grandchildren, Matthew Stanley, Colby Cornell, Cooper Kay, Kingsley Kay, Keely Cornell, Averie Cornell, Austin Gaddis, Eric Floyd, Emily Cornell, Shelby Stanley, Callan Cornell and Raylan Floyd.
