Obituary of Lucy Ellen Shipp Slaton

Lucy Ellen Shipp Slaton, age 99, of Clarksville passed away Friday, October 30, 2009 at ETMC Clarksville. Mrs. Slaton was born March 21, 1910 in Moore, Oklahoma to Ewell and Della Moore Shipp. She was a member of Temple Baptist church. Her husband, Jack Slaton, daughter Lola, son Luther and parents preceded her in death. Survivors include her son, Rev. Edgar Slaton and wife Charline of Quitman, Texas; daughters, Jan McGuire and husband Charlie of Markham, Texas and Nancy Higgins and husband W.F. “Babe” of Clarksville, eleven grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and twenty-seven great-great grandchildren. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2009, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Edgar Slaton, Rev. B.G. Bowden and Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Deport cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Kevin Higgins, Keith Higgins, Kelly Slaton, Brandon Bell, Pat McDonald and Charles Lynn McGuire.
