Obituary of Douglas B. Martin
Douglas B. Martin was born December 27, 1938, in Clarksville to Louis and Opal Barnett Martin. He was retired from Red River Army Depot and a carpenter by trade. He loved the outdoors, being with family and helping people in their time of need. He also served in the National Guard. His unit was called to active duty where he served as a Medic. He was a member of the College Avenue Baptist Church. His Parents and one brother, Jeff Martin, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Randy Martin of Clarksville; two daughters, Andrea Purvin and husband Michael of Wolfe City and Cynthia Sheppard of Paris; two brothers, John R. Martin of Avery and Ellis Martin of Clarksville; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his faithful Cocker Spaniel, Beavo.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 10, 2010, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Bobbitt officiating. Burial followed in New Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
The family received friends Friday night from 6 to 8 at Clarksville Funeral Home.
