Obituary of Myrtle De Dell Mowery

Myrtle “De Dell” Mowery, age 80, of the Hopewell Community in Red River County, passed away, November 12, 2015, at Regency Healthcare and Rehab. De Dell was born April 1, 1935, in Red River County to James Cecil “Bill” and Zora Viola Sweeden Dryden. She was a member of the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. De Dell married George Mowery on November 14, 1952 and he preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Inez Stringer and Frances Pace; 4 brothers, Dink Dillard and Charles, J.C., Donnie and James Dryden. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 16, 2015, at the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Steven Stringer, Justin Stringer, Bubba Stringer, Cliff Sears, Shane Roberts and Kevin Roberts Survivors include 1 son, John Mowery and friend, Rhonda Smith of Hopewell; 2 daughters, Gail Pitt and husband, Monty of Hopewell and Shirley Quick of Dimple; 2 sisters, Brenda Sears and husband, Chuck of Atlanta and Mildred Martin of Lehigh Acres, Florida; 5 grandchildren, Deanna Tharpe, Crystie Dawson, Rachelle Acree, Kelti Ruckman and Kimberly Hamric; and 6 great grandchildren.
