Obituary of Mary Jane Grigg

Mary Jane Grigg, age 81, of Avery, passed away, November 21, 2015, at Wadley Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Grigg was born, July 10, 1934, in the Acworth Community of Red River County to Chester F. and Gladys Greer Parks. She married her husband of 58 years, Duel Grigg, on June 23, 1957 and was a member of the Avery United Methodist Church. Mary was very active in her church, her community and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a great cook and loved taking care of her roses. Mrs. Grigg was preceded in death by 1 brother, James C. Parks; and 1 sister, Christine Moore. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at the Avery United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Cloyd officiating. Burial will follow in Avery Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are B.J. Broomfield, Bentley Stires, Mike Slagle, Gage Braden, Jimmy Parks and Tommy Parks. Survivors include her husband, Duel Grigg of Avery; 2 sons, David W. Grigg and wife, Pam of Avery and James B. Grigg of Avery; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Calloway of Detroit, Landon Grigg of Searcy, Arkansas, Sara Camp of Bryant, Arkansas and Shelby Grigg of Searcy, Arkansas; and 4 great grandchildren, Fisher, Radley, Harley and Maddox. Memorials may be made to the Avery United Methodist Church, 309 W. Alabama St., Avery, Texas 75554.
