Obituary of Milton Austin

Milton Clyde Austin, of Detroit, passed away Friday, December 18th, 2015 at the age of 73. Milton was born in Paris on August 17th, 1942 to Charlie and Maude Miller Austin. He married the love of his life of 50 years, Gail Chaffin, on October 8, 1965. She survives as do his three children, Shane Austin and wife Tawna of Newton, Iowa, Katina Weaver and husband Rick of Bells and Crystal Blizzard and husband Jeff of Newton, Iowa. Milton’s grandchildren are: Dylan and Devon Weaver, Cassie Journee and Ascher Austin. His siblings are: Jerry Austin, Charlene Austin, Myra Simmons, Jimmy Austin and Jason Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents. Milton loved surrounded himself with family, grandchildren (and everyone else’s grandchildren) as well as Christians friends. When his children were young, the yearly family camping vacations, boating on Pat Mayes and Beavers Bend were highlights. For the grandbabies he would give the best “horse rides” on his foot, with all the sound effects, tractor rides, play basketball, have them sit in his lap and play solitaire even when they mess up his games. Milton enjoyed fishing, hunting, mechanic work, go carts and four wheelers for the grandkids, avid 42 domino player and horseshoes. Most weeks he could be found at Catfish King with his wife, sharing a plate together. He was always faithful in his visits with his sisters. Another priority in his life was his enthusiastic joy of sharing Bible truth with others. Comical moments including him sharing a story and a laugh with friends and family, even when his laugh would over power his story! Working right along with his brothers in the concrete business, he fondly remembered, “People calling us “The Stooges” cause on late pour days waiting on concrete to set up we would play horseshoes or whiffle ball in the streets late at night like little boys.” His motto in life was, “We didn’t have much, but boy did we have some good times!” The family would like to add their appreciation for all kindness and support shown to them in this difficult time. Memorial services are set for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Kingdom Hall and Jehovah’s Witnesses with Bro. Durwin Hohhertz officiating.
