Obituary of Dorothy Gaddis Shimpock

Dorothy Marie Gaddis Shimpock, age 92, of Annona, passed away January 15, 2016, at Regency Nursing Center. Mrs. Shimpock was born March 3, 1923, in the Boxelder Community to Austin and Ola Fogleman Gaddis She was a graduate of Annona High School and retired from both Annnona and Clarksville Independent School Districts. Mrs. Shimpock was a great cook. She loved cooking for her family, church functions and where ever there was a need in the community. Mrs. Shimpock enjoyed making quilts. She always entered her quilts in the Red River County Fair and won many top honors. She was a longtime member of the Annona First Baptist Church. Mrs. Shimpock volunteered many hours at area nursing homes and was very active in her church and community. She married Robert Shimpock on February 7, 1942 and he preceded her in death on November 18, 2006. Her sister, Julia Harman and daughter-in-law, Brenda Shimpock also preceded her in death. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. , Monday, January 18, 2016, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Don Shovan, Rev. Jimmy Woodard and Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Savannah Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are, Charles Holloway, J.L. O’Neal, Jay Smith, Eddie Hausler, Devin McEwin, John Edd Garrett, Ricky Gibson and Jeff Gaines. Honorary Pallbearers are, Glenn Stewart, Dub McGregor, Bruce Scott, George Harvey, Jr. and Bobby Brem. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Clarksville Funeral Home. Survivors include her sons, Tim Shimpock and wife, Darlena of Annona and Bruce Shimpock and wife, Deborah of Daingerfield; her daughter, Becky Warthan and husband, Ben of San Antonio; grandchildren, Angela Smith and husband, Jeff, Rob Shimpock and wife, Lisa, Dale Shimpock and wife, Bree, Amanda Gray and Timberley Townes and husband, Charlie; great grandchildren, Eric, Ashten, Gracie, Drew, Paxton, Presley, Carter, Harley, Braylyn, Jakob and Joshua.
