Obituary of Luther William Shirley

Luther William “Buck” Shirley, age 88, of Clarksville, left for his heavenly home, Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Mr. Shirley was born, July 21, 1927, in Red River County to William Earl and Lula Westfall Shirley. He married Esther Lee Monkhouse on January 31, 1953. They were married for 51 years. Buck was preceded in death by his wife; son in law, Buddy Hugh Morris Belew, Jr.; and his brother, Lloyd Hugh Shirley. His working career held many titles but his life long title was husband and daddy. Buck worked for Clifton Kay, Magnolia Brush, Cross Arrow Ranch, R.D. McDonald, Dick Baldelli’s Small Ponderosa Ranch, C.O. “Son” Welch and Leslie Rose to name a few. His latest employer was David Rozell, working at the Northeast Texas Car Wash. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in New Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour before service time at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are, Shane Dilbeck, Justin Dilbeck, Chad Dilbeck, Heath Shirley, Chris Shirley and Ricky Roberts. Survivors include 2 sons, William Ray Shirley and wife, Susan of Johntown and Ronald Dale Shirley and wife, Trina of Sumner; 2 daughters, Debra Belew of Clarksville and Linda Dileck and husband, Terry of Detroit; sister in law, Margaret Ervin of Clarksville; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.
