Obituary of Jay Frank Mathis

Jay Frank Mathis, age 85, of Longview, formerly of Red River County, passed away, Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Longview Regional Medical Center. Mr. Mathis was a very kind, hardworking and generous man. He was family oriented and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Jay was the owner of E-Z Hinge Company in Longview. Mr. Mathis was born, May 5, 1930, in Detroit, to Dave and Ruby Wilks Mathis. He was preceded in death by his son, Mason Mathis; his daughter, Angela Elliott; 3 sisters; and 1 brother. Graveside services are set for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at Tuggle Springs Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are Ray Crowson, Doug Childres, Audie Prewitt, Don Leatherwood and Willard Leverett. Survivors include a grandson, Sam Elliott and wife, Marissa of Longview; a granddaughter, Hope White and husband, Nicholas of Longview; and 3 great grandchildren.
