Obituary of Alexander Blake Newsom

Alexander Blake Newsom “Blake” was born July 17th, 1982 in Palestine, Texas. Blake walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 20th, 2016 at the age of 33. Blake was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandfather Jimmy L. Smith of Clarksville, TX. Blake is survived by his parents, Ricky and Kathy Newsom of Georgetown, Colorado; two sisters Whitney Hensley and husband Billy of McKinney, TX. and Courtney Newsom of Dallas, TX. Grandparents Paula Higgins and husband T.J. of Clarksville, TX. Irma Parlington of Mount Vernon, Texas and Nix Newsom of Mt. Vernon, TX.; great grandmother, Dottie Branum of Van, TX. and numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. Blake also leaves behind his beloved cats, Mojo and Maverick. Blake attended school in Clarksville, TX then moved to Longview, TX where he graduated from Pine Tree High School in 2000. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas in Tyler in 2005 and his Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas in 2012. Blake was a Licensed Specialist School Psychologist. Blake was an avid lover of sports, especially the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys. One of Blake’s greatest joys was watching the Texas Longhorns play Football and Basketball. Blake will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. He was the kind of young man that anyone would be proud to call Son, Grandson, Brother and Friend. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, April 24th 2016, at 2:00 p.m. in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Colgrove officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Clarksville Texas. Pallbearers will be Cody Newsom, Eric Newsom, Micah Williams, Bryson Smith and Jason King.
