Obituary of Deloris Lucille Phelps

Deloris Lucille Phelps, age 81, of Avery, passed away, Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Regency Nursing Center. Mrs. Phelps was born May 27, 1935, in Red River County to Lee Carl and Edith Faye Cockerham Goodwin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin Lem “Poodle” Phelps; her daughter, Lois Marie Phelps; her son, Kenneth Dale Phelps; her granddaughter, Kayla Marie Wallace; her parents; her sister, Jo Ann Davis; and 5 brothers, Robert Lee, Billy Pat, Jimmy Wayne, James Donald and Douglas McArthur Goodwin. Lucille was a nature lover by heart. She spent countless hours walking around the family farm picking up pecans and black walnuts. She was a naturalist. Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2016, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Jackson Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Pallbearers are, Chad Goodwin, Brian Goodwin, David Wayne Phelps, Jearl McPeak, Billy Don Phelps and Rickie Holmes. Honorary Pallbearers are, Chris Phelps, Rodney Phelps, Kenny Phelps, Ryan Phelps, David Chance and Steven Wallace, Jr. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home. Survivors include 2 sons, Frankie Phelps and wife, Judy of Avery and Steven Wallace and wife, Lori of Texarkana; 2 daughters, Martha Sieling and husband, Dave of De Kalb and Edith Sparks and husband, David of Mt. Vernon; 7 sisters, Berty Faye Fortenberry, Joyce Morrow, Nancy Allston, Sally Branscom, Susan Crook, Polly Newton and Laura Martin; 10 grandchildren, Chris and Rodney Phelps, Kenny and Ryan Phelps, David Chance, Steven Wallace, Jr., Ericka Miller, Amber Tippets and Cheyenne and McKinlee Wallace; 2 step grandchildren, Rocky and Conner; 8 great grandchildren, Austin Phelps, Dakota Tippets, Madison Tippets, Peyton Tippets, Evan Miller, Aiden Miller, Caelin Miller and Kayden Compton; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
