Obituary of Ella Ruth Wallace

Ella Ruth Wallace, age 92, of Clarksville, passed away Thursday, October 06, 2016, at Regency Nursing Center. Ella Ruth was born in the Madras Community of Red River County, July 6, 1924, to Byron Livingston and Ima Lee Williamson Pace. She attended Madras schools through sixth grade. She graduated from Clarksville High School in 1942. Ella Ruth attended business school in Dallas returning to Clarksville and was employed by the Farmers Home Administration from 1943 to 1948. She married Harold Wallace in 1948. They moved to Midland in 1951, where they resided for twenty five years. She worked at the Midland schools but the majority of her life was spent as a wife and mother. Ella Ruth and Harold were active members of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Midland. She helped with the children’s Sunday school class and belonged to a prayer group. They moved back to Red River County in 1976 to their home in the Mabry Community and joined the New Shamrock Presbyterian Church where she was church treasurer, Deacon and Elder. She was President of the Red River County Historical Society from 1977 until 1980. With her love for Israel, she made a trip with a group from Clarksville in 1977. After Harold’s death in 1996, their home in the Mabry Community was sold and she moved to Clarksville. She moved her church membership to the First Presbyterian Church where she served on the Session in 2003 and 2004. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, George Harold Wallace and Ben Wallace; and a brother, Byron Pace. Survivors include her son, Robert B. and wife, Dollie Wallace;2 daughter-in-laws, Sherry Wallace and Ann Wallace; a sister –in-law, Bettye K. Pace of Clarksville; and a special nephew, Billy Dee Snody. Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Aaron Vander Schaaf officiating. Burial will follow in New Shamrock Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral home. The family will receive friends an hour before service time at the church.
