Obituary of Janet Whiteman Ussery

Janet Whiteman Ussery passed from this life January 24, 2017 at her residence. Janet was born on January 9, 1941 to Jim and Nell Davis Whiteman. She married Reid Ussery on June 1, 1958 at the First Baptist Church in Clarksville, Texas. Janet and her husband raised their four children in the Lane’s Chapel Community. Janet retired from the Red River Army Depot in 2004. Her interests included family gatherings, playing cards, old westerns and Willie Nelson music. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Sharon Whiteman and Barbara Meredith, her son Vince Ussery, and her beloved husband Reid. She is survived by her brother Jim Whiteman and wife Leticia of Como, Texas; sister Charlotte Kornell of Dallas, Texas; brother-in-law James Meredith of Clarksville; son Damon Ussery and wife Christie of Bogata, Texas; daughter Angala Skeen and husband Dale of Clarksville, Texas; son Jon Ussery of Clarksville, Texas; nine grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and two great granddaughters. Janet was laid to rest at a private graveside service held at Lane’s Chapel under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home with Bro. James Brown officiating. Her pall bearers were Dru Ussery, Waylon Whitaker, Luc Whitaker, Davis Mitchell, Vince Ussery, and Rhett Mitchell.
