Obituary of Darcus Derrell Jones

Derrell Jones, age 69, of Clarksville, passed away Friday, September 17, 2010, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Derrell was born March 26, 1941, in Red River County, the son of M.M. and Edna Edwards Jones. He was a member of McKenzie Memorial United Methodist Church, the Layman Sunday School Class and a member of Friendship Lodge #16, AF&AM. Derrell loved the outdoors, farming, ranching and was a great conversationalist. He served on the WCID board. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Marcus and James. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010, in Lindeman Chapel of Clarksville Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Colgrove officiating. Burial will follow in Lanes Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Flanagan Jones; a son, Derek Jones of Clarksville; two brothers, Teddy Jones of Clarksville and Mitchell Jones of Red Oak; a granddaughter, Lacy Chandler; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are John Gray, Kevin Gray, Steve Raulston, Trey Puckett, Michael Witmer and Jeff Moore. Honorary Pallbearers are Ernest Witmer, Ken Bishop, Ed Lindeman, W.F. Babe Higgins, Jr., Charlie Clark, Bob Pettiet, Johnny Crawford, Terry May, Harry Moore, Charles Ray McLendon, Gary Wester and the Layman Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarksville Food Pantry at 706 W. 12th St., Clarksville, Texas 75426.
