Obituary of Carol Lee Wren

Carol Lee Puckett Wren, “Maw”, age 79, of Clarksville, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Carol was born October 2, 1937, in Annona to Harlan Neil and Mary Catherine Talley Puckett. Carol was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder, taught Sunday school and was a longtime member of the choir. Carol was graduated from Clarksville High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from North Texas State University and her Master’s degree from East Texas State University. She was a teacher in the Clarksville Public Schools for many years. She was also a longtime volunteer with the American Cancer Society and was instrumental in the founding of the Red River County Public Library. Carol loved spending time with her family, and she was the glue that held everybody together. Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Richard “Dick” Wren, Sr.; 2 brothers, John Neil Puckett and Patrick Puckett and 2 sisters, Mary Lynn Griffith and Catherine Elizabeth Bumgartne. The family will have a reception for fellowship after the service. Memorial services are set for 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville with Pastor Aaron Vander Schaaf officiating. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home. Survivors include 2 sons, Richard Dean Wren, Jr. and wife, Rhonda of Clarksville and Thomas Garrett Wren of Clarksville; 1 daughter, Catherine Neil Sparkman and husband, Billy of Clarksville; 5 grandchildren, Theodore Wren, Allen Wren, Catherine Lee Goodwin, Allie Catherine Sparkman and Sarah Elizabeth Sparkman; 2 great grandchildren, Jayden Lee Goodwin and Madison Cheyenne Gaddis; 2 brother-in-laws, Marion Griffith and J.B. Bumgarten and numerous nieces and nephews.
