Obituary of Evelyn Louise McCulloch

Dr. Evelyn Hall McCulloch passed away in the early morning hours of June 14, 2017. Evelyn was born on March 24th, 1932, to Sydney and Edith Hall of Annona, Texas. She was one of 13 children.

Mrs. McCulloch earned her BA (1964) and Masters of Education (1968) at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, La. She earned her Doctorate in Education in 1984 at East Texas State University. Evelyn was a member of numerous professional educational and community organizations throughout her career. She served as a teacher, curriculum director, and principal in Clarksville Independent School District.

Evelyn leaves behind her beloved husband of 66 years, Gaines of Clarksville, TX; daughter Joanna and son-in-law John Dewey of Flower Mound, TX; granddaughter Leah and her husband Josh Griffin, along with their two daughters, Aiden and Easton, of Marble Falls, TX; and grandson, Paul, of Lake Charles, LA.

Mrs. McCulloch was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Edward Gaines McCulloch; her parents; and all her twelve siblings.

Evelyn McCulloch truly loved teaching thousands of students over the years. She was always honored when they remembered her later in life.

 Evelyn was a faithful follower in Christ, and dedicated her life to her friends and family. She and her husband, Gaines, have enjoyed many years living in the peaceful Hopewell community, sharing their bountiful annual garden with friends. Evelyn loved to spend her retirement years growing and canning vegetables, reading, sewing cross-stitch gifts for friends, working puzzles, and feeding the many hummingbirds at their farm.

Graveside Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 17, 2017, in Clarksville Cemetery with Rev. James Brown officiating.   Burial will follow under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

 In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Red River County Library; 315 N. Walnut, Clarksville, Texas 75426.
