Obituary of Joe Andrew Cruce
Joe Andrew Cruce, 73, of Bogata passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, under Cypress Basin Hospice Care in Paris, Texas. He was born March 24, 1944, and moved as an infant with his family to the Cuthand community in East Texas.
He leaves behind his wife of fifty-three years, Linda (Green) Cruce of Bogata, his son Joel Cruce and wife Elena of Garland as well as his mother, Ruthie Shefield of Clarksville. In addition he is survived by his brother-in-law, Dr. Keith Green and wife Janet of Paris, his sister-in-law, Loraine Cruce of Grand Prairie, several special nieces and nephews and many good friends.
Preceding Joe in death were his dad, Twyman Cruce, his step-father, Samuel Shefield, and his brother, Tommy Cruce.
Joe was raised in Cuthand, Texas, and attended Bogata schools. After graduating from Bogata High School in 1962, he married Linda and relocated to Irving, Texas.
Joe worked as a machinist supervisor for Texas Instruments for twenty-seven years. His responsibilities at TI included leading a team that worked on the strike missile during the Vietnam War. Also, he taught training classes at Mountview College in Dallas. Furthermore, Joe enjoyed ranching and raising cows at Johnstown before retiring full time to Bogata, Texas.
Joe had a passion for music and played guitar in a local Irving band in his younger years. Additionally, he enjoyed collecting countless different items, and he loved attending local auctions in search of treasures. What's more, he enjoyed working on cars and fixing "honey do" items around the house. Joe had a fondness for people and always had stories and jokes to share.
Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bogata, Texas.
Family and friends will gather at the Clarksville Funeral Home to remember their beloved Joe Cruce, on Friday, July 14, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. followed by a service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 A.M. After the service, burial will take place at the Cuthand Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.
Memorials in remembrance of Joe may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bogata or a favorite charity.
