Obituary of Howard Orville Prewitt

~~Howard “Hop” Orville Prewitt, age 82, of Pittsburg, passed away, Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Titus Regional Medical Center.  Howard was born, September 24, 1935, in the Dimple Community of Red River County to Leonard and Lula Lay Prewitt.  He married the love of his life, Wilma Neal on March 13, 1993.  They were married for 24 wonderful years.  He was a member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, a graduate of Dimple High School and attended Paris Junior College.  Howard was an expert marksman while serving in the U.S. Marine Corp.  He retired from Red River Army Depot after 35 years of service.  Howard was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, Leonard Prewitt; and two sisters, Verda Kellam and Marie Shook.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Neal Powell Prewitt of Pittsburg; 3 sons, Chris Prewitt and wife, Cheri, Gregg Prewitt and wife, Linda and Scott Prewitt; 1 daughter, Sherri Prater and husband, Bryan; 6 grandchildren, Khristopher Prewitt, Miranda Prewitt, Erin Prewitt, Bailey Prewitt, Megan Yi and husband, C.J., Brent Prater and wife, Becky; 3 great grandchildren, Aiden Yi, Maddox Yi and Camden Yi; 1 brother, Audie Prewitt and wife, Ilene; 1 sister, Margaret Smith; his wife’s loving and caring sister, Patsy Pierce; his wife’s brother, Charles Neal and wife, Martha; and many more relatives and friends.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 27, 2017, at New Haven Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Griffith and Rev. James Hinkle officiating.  Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Jerry Don Shook, Mike Kellam, Russell Smith, Lang Prewitt, Scott Hinkle and Brant Prewitt.

Visitation will be an hour before service time at the church.
