Obituary of Richmond Stuart Gurley

Richmond Stuart Gurley, age 58, of Bagwell, went to be with the Lord, Friday, January 12, 2018, after a hard fought battle with Colon Cancer.   Richmond was born, June 3, 1959, in Oak Cliff and soon moved to Mesquite, Garland and later Sachse where he grew up attending Garland High School and later graduated from Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch in 1978.  He met and married his wife, Glenda Low Dupree on September 18, 1989.  He loved both her and her daughter, Amanda dearly.  He was a long-haul truck driver and worked for Haynes Transport just until he was homebound and no longer able to safely manage the rig.  He was surrounded  by his wife, Glenda, mother Jean Gurley Ashlock, sisters, Deborah Gurley Sparks, and Glenda Gurley Gurley Fodge and brother-in-law, Jerry Low as he passed from this life into the arms of Jesus.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda, step daughter Amanda Dupree, grandsons, Gage Dillon Simms and Levi James Hartnett, mother Jean and her husband, Ken Ashlock of Garland, sister, Debbie and her husband, Bynum Sparks of Midland and sister Glenda and her husband, Jeff Fodge of Rockwall, brother-in-law, Jerry Low and wife, Susie Low of Croatia, along with nieces, Heather Sparks Marecle, Jennifer Sparks Rabe, Lindsay Fodge Essery, Natalie Fodge, Joy Low and nephews, Matthew Fodge, and Asa and Gordon Low , along with spouses and various other family members.  He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Gurley, biological father, J.W. Francis and in-laws, Olas and Katie Low.

Funeral services are set for 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 15, 2018, at the New Haven Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis McClintic and Rev. James Hinkle officiating.  Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery under the direction of Clarksville Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Clarksville Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., at New Liberty Baptist Church in Garland.  333 W. Centerville Rd.  Garland, Texas.
